Alright y'all. Look around this page, check out
Payton's personal page, listen to
his excellent podcast, look at the issues, and make up your mind.
For 40 years Hunting Park was represented by absentee leadership in Harrisburg under Bill Reiger. Rep. Payton dusted off Reiger's seat and went to work. In his first term as State Rep. he has not only introduced and passed some excellent legislation, but he and his staff have also put in a lot of work on behalf of the residents of Hunting Park. Everyone around here knows about Poor Boys. Rep. Payton's staff presented our local concerns to L&I when our former councilman refused to do so. This dual pronged approach of aggressive constituent services and creative legislating makes Rep. Payton a tremendous asset in our community's efforts for progress.
Rep. Payton opposed the Democratic Party endorsee to win the office two years ago and showed support for another maverick, Maria Quinones Sanchez, who defeated Party endorsee Daniel J. Savage to become our new City Councilwoman. Wouldn't you know that Daniel J. Savage, in his influential role as ward leader, and other Democratic Party power players decided not to endorse Payton for re-election this year. Yes, these same brilliant minds supported Reiger for 40 years but they cannot support a candidate who actually shows up to work! Their egos are bruised and their influence is threatened so they refuse to support a competent incumbent. Sadly, our local political system is structured to favor a political boss mentality rather than an attitude of constituent service. The Democratic Party has a lot of resources, but we have votes. The best thing for Hunting Park is to support Rep. Payton. Let's stand united for him.
Let's turn out on April 22 and show our support!
